Peripapillary fluorescence lifetime reveals age-dependent changes using fluorescence lifetime imaging ophthalmoscopy in rats

Abstract Many fundus diseases accompany fundus autofluorescence change. Fluorescence lifetime imaging ophthalmoscope (FLIO) is a latest technique in imaging fundus autofluorescence. With FLIO, the fundus fluorescence lifetime (FLT) is recorded topographically, assisting to diagnose and monitor multiple fundus diseases. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the repeatability of FLT using FLIO on adult rats and to analyze the age-dependency of the peripapillary FLT of the fundus in a short spectral channel (498–560 nm) and a long spectral channel (560–720 nm). Background  The aim of this histomorphometric study was to assess the bone regeneration potential of beta-tricalcium phosphate with fibronectin (β-TCP-Fn) in critical-sized defects (CSDs) in rats calvarial, to know whether Fn improves the new bone formation in a short time scope. Hyperlactacidaemia in isolated hyperthermic perfusion of tumour bearing rat limbs: a study of feasibility using a novel infusion solution.

In a methodological study the applicability of hyperlactacidaemia in isolated hyperthermic perfusion of tumour-bearing rat limbs was investigated.In 50 Sprague Dawley rats, DS-sarcoma growth was initiated on the right food dorsum by subcutaneous injection of 0.5 ml ascites cells. In the anaesthetized animals isolated limb perfusion was performed under steady state conditions for 60min using a miniature equipment. Thereafter tumour volume was measured daily. Application of nano-hydroxyapatite/chitosan scaffolds on rat calvarial critical-sized defects: A pilot study

Background The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate for the first time the effect of 75/25 w/w nano-Hydroxyapatite/Chitosan (nHAp/CS) scaffolds on Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) in rat calvarial critical-sized defects (CSDs). Material and Methods Six adult Sprague Dawley rats, 3 males and 3 females, were used. Two CSDs, full thickness and 5mm in diameter, were trephined in both sides of the parietal bone. The right CSD was filled with nHAp/CS scaffold, while the left CSD remained empty, as the control group. The wound was sutured in layers. Effects of chronic nicotine on the temporal structure of anxiety-related behavior in rats tested in hole-board.

Abstract The present study aimed to assess the behavioral effects of chronic treatments of different doses of nicotine by using both quantitative and multivariate T-pattern analysis (TPA), which can reveal hidden behavioral structures, in Sprague-Dawley rats tested in the hole-board apparatus. To this purpose, nicotine ditartrate was administered at the doses of 0.1, 0.5 and 1 mg/kg i.p., three times per day, for 14 consecutive days. To characterize further the functionally enigmatic "synaptic" ribbons (SR) of the mammalian pineal gland and to study possible relationships to melatonin synthesis, in the present investigation rats were exposed to short pulses of light at night when both SR numbers and serotonin N-acetyltransferase (NAT) activity are high in comparison to day-time values. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were killed at 13:00 and 01:00 h, respectively, and at 01:10 and 02:00 h after exposure to light for 10 and 60 min, respectively.
